Dr. Eric Knapp is a Research Ecologist for the US Forest Service Pacific Southwest Station, based in Redding, CA. His research bridges the fields of fire ecology, fuel management, forest ecology, and silviculture. He studies how forests that evolved with frequent fire have changed in the absence of fire, the ecological outcomes of forest and fuel management alternatives such as thinning and prescribed fire, and the way different factors interact to influence how wildfires burn.
