Please join the California Fire Science Consortium, USDA Forest Service, and the Sierra Nevada Conservancy for a 1-day workshop in Mammoth Lakes, CA. The morning will be devoted to presentations by guest speakers and will be followed by an optional trip to local field sites in the afternoon. Presentations and discussions will focus on the ecology and management of eastern Sierra Nevada forest ecosystems, and related topics.

Logistics:
For the meeting, please park in the parking lot for the Welcome Center/Mammoth Ranger District Office at 2501 California 203, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546. The Mammoth Auditorium is easy to find from the parking area. If the welcome center parking is full, you may park in the employee parking lot behind the building. We’ll have basic beverages (including coffee) and a few light snacks but please bring your own lunch.

Ecology and management of eastside forest ecosystems (Malcolm North, USFS PSW and UC Davis, and Hugh Safford, USFS and UC Davis)
Forest and fuels management (Brandon Collins, USFS PSW and UC Berkeley)
Fire and forest restoration under the new Inyo Forest Plan (Marc Meyer, USFS)
For the field trip, please be sure to bring long pants, rain gear and warm clothes, and sturdy boots. A hard hat is recommended but no required. Also be sure to bring your lunch and plenty or water. The afternoon field trip will focus on the ecology and management of eastern Sierra forest ecosystems, with an emphasis on the ecological role of fire.
If you volunteered a vehicle and we’ll be needing you to drive, the organizers will email you directly. So if you don’t hear from us, it means we won’t be needing your car on the field trip and please plan to ride in one of the official field trip vehicles.
