Since 2010, Australian national and state governments have commissioned at least 101 post-emergency inquiries and reviews, each of which makes recommendations to improve the way we prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from wildfires. Many of these reviews recommend specific changes to laws and policies, for example, to simplify permitting processes for clearing native vegetation and mitigating fire hazards.

The Wildfire Resilient Structures (WiReS) conference addresses the WUI fire risk problems inherent to the built environment to support resilient and equitable communities. With a shared goal of implementation through education, the WiReS conference will make local, regional, and state impact through the presentation and promotion of applied science, knowledge, and technology advancements to Decision Makers.

The annual Yosemite Hydroclimate Meeting is scheduled for Oct. 13 - 14, 2022. We are planning of an in-person meeting in the Yosemite Auditorium, but there is always a chance of virtual....hoping not. This workshop is an excellent opportunity to describe your work in Yosemite National Park as well as the greater Sierra Nevada region.

This presentation will summarize a literature review conducted by a team of scientists from across western North America on the topic of climate change and western wildfires. Rapid climate change is bringing warmer, drier, longer wildfire seasons to our region. In fire-dependent forests, these wildfires are burning in fuels that built up during more than a century of policies that favored fire exclusion.

Symposium Goal: The ACCG Monitoring workgroup and the SOFAR Landscape Design Team is hosting a symposium that will highlight ongoing monitoring and research in the Power Fire and its application in post fire restoration planning (e.g. Caldor Fire).

ollowing the 2020 Bobcat Fire in the San Gabriel Mountains, the SGVCOG identified a need for a regional program to provide wildfire adaptation and prevention resources to cities and residents. To mark the launch of this program, the SGVCOG is bringing together expert panelists to discuss how cities and communities can help support successful wildfire programs and prevent future wildfires.
